Lyme Disease in Santa Clara County
ticks inspection ticks

Campers, hikers and anyone working or playing outdoors should be extra watchful for ticks because some of them carry the bacteria that cause Lyme disease, ehrlichiosis and other tick-borne diseases. More than half of the estimated 150 cases of Lyme disease every year in California are contracted during the spring and early summer months when the very small, immature forms of ticks are most common. For more information, please download Lyme Fact Sheet and brochures (see below) from the Santa Clara County Vector District and the California Department of Public Health.
